The Miracle of St. Anthony by Adrian Wojnarowski is a non-fictional story about St. Antony’s high school in Jersey City, New Jersey. The story was focused on the basketball program and the legendary coach, Bob Hurley. Hurley presents a challenging journey to his players when they attend St Anthony’s. The student athletes are challenged in ways such as, but not limited to, education, athletics, and socially. He demands the most out of them, and because of this, he has been very successful. Hurley encourages his players to be in a position to succeed on and off the court.
I loved the book because it tells a story about troubled inner city kids who use basketball as a vehicle to make it to college. The book is a truly inspiring read and presents morals and lessons to live by. The Miracle of St. Anthony is proof that under any circumstances, one can find success in life if they have a dream that they’re willing to pursue.
