Book to Read: The Help

Over Thanksgiving break, I read Kathryn Stockett’s The Help.  It is a book about African-American maids in post-Civil War Mississippi.  It has both emotion and factual history, and therefore anyone who reads this book will learn a lot about
Southern social structure during the equality movement.  Showing the view of both African maids and their bosses, it is an eye-opener that anyone would love.  It is a good read and you will not want to put the book down.  It is about 500 pages, yet it will only take a couple days to read because of the compelling text.  The Help is a good book for anyone interested to read historical fiction in a well-written and diverse novel.  There is something for everyone in this book, which makes it one of the best reads to pick up.
