The Gherkin & Modernism

The Gherkin is a building that is in London that is shaped like a bullet, it was made by Foster and Partners and opened in 2004. It is 41 stories, and 591 feet tall and is located in the financial section of London. This building shows modernism because of its unique shape and structure that makes it stand out to all of the other buildings in London and the world. The Gherkin relates to modernism because its unique bullet shape shows how advanced and sophisticated the architects must have been when designing this building, the architects could have easily just made another rectangle shaped skyscraper but instead they thought outside of the box and made a building that would catch everyone’s eyes who saw it.
