City Loneliness

Edward Hopper portrays mystery and loneliness through this scene. There is no way to tell what the interaction is between these two people, if there even is one to begin with. The scene looks as if it could be in a city, but it’s mysterious how they are the only two people in this one restaurant. There is no way to tell exactly what is going on, so that leaves a sense of mystery. The man and woman are staring in different directions, which shows they could both be alone and be lonely.
