Nighthawks_by_Edward_Hopper_1942Nighthawks, by Edward Hopper portrays the modern element alienation. It is clear that there seems to be tension between the man and the woman in the red dress. There is no interaction between the two, as the woman sits there fixated on her nails, while the man seems to be staring off in a deep train of thought. The man alone is alienating himself by choosing to sit at diner at night, rather than going home to his loved ones. I am assuming he’s not homeless considering he’s wearing a suit.
