Duke Orsino, portrayed by Channing Tatum, is the captain of the soccer team at Illyria. He meets Sebastian, who is actually Viola in disguise, and that is when we start to get to know the “real” Duke. Most people know him as the tough, popular and good-looking jock, but we find out that he is actually a caring and sensitive guy. We encounter that side of him during the scene between him and Viola, disguised as Sebastian. He opens up to her and shows her a different side of him, which makes her fall in love with him even more. Duke says, at the end of the movie, “well, you know, maybe if I’d have known you were a girl, we wouldn’t have talked like we did and got to know each other the same way and that would have been a shame.” Then Viola responds by saying, “just so you know, everything you told me when I was a guy just made me like you so much more as a girl.” This shows that Duke is delicate and finds it hard to open up to girls. He opens up to Viola because he does not just see her as a girl but considers her a friend that he can trust.
