WINDSOR LOCKS CANAL HISTORY
The Suffield Historical Society presents Chris Kervick, current president of the Windsor Locks Historical Society, as its guest speaker on Wednesday, November 18, 7 p.m. at the Suffield Senior Center. He will bring to life the story of the immigrant Irish workers who dug the canal by hand in the 1820’s. Their tale is largely unknown, but recent discoveries shed light on their tale and their impact on our local area. The public is always welcome at Society meetings.

It’s that time of year again when everyone is in a frenzy of preparation for the holidays. Take a short break and join friends and neighbors at Academy Hall in West Suffield (1499 Mountain Road) on Saturday, December 5 from 1:00-4:00 for a relaxing cup of tea or coffee and some tempting goodies. Stop in before the Garden Club House Tour for a bite with friends. There will be a sale of Christmas items and a raffle, the proceeds of which support maintenance of the Hall. The event is free, a holiday offering of cheer from Val Sullivan and Deb Basdekis, two members of the West Suffield Village Improvement Association, but donations are gladly accepted.
