She’s The Man/Twelfth Night “Gender Roles”

Twelfth Night and She’s the man both portray different roles that each gender plays in society. While many not agree with these roles, it’s also safe to say

Viola and Justin demonstrate the inequality in gender roles in She's the Man

some of these stereotypes are broken. Looking at the Viola’s we can see the stereotypes of a weak woman being broken as woman are successfully being men, winning the hearts of other woman and climbing the rankings in social status. But some of these stereotypes remain the same, taking the Sebastian’s for an example with how when they both return an are instantly attracted to the Olivia’s without knowing much about them. This can be looked as a stereotype of males being very lustful.  Gender stereotypes can be seen throughout the entire play and movie and some are hidden in plain sight.
