Superior and Arrogant Doppelgangers

Malcolm_Feste_Infobox.pngJust like Malvolio in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night; Malcolm in She’s the Man is an outsider. His peers and acquaintances dislike him because of his selfishness and his obsession with getting what he wants. Both men think they are better than everyone and step above his own level of standing. For example; in Twelfth night, Malvolio confronts Viola who is above him in class and status, and treats her like she is below him. Also, in the movie She’s the Man Malcolm brags about his status at the school, and tries to win Olivia’s affection by doing so. In the end of both scripts Malvolio and Malcolm both learn that by acting superior and arrogant they will not get what they want.Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 8.38.10 PM.png
