Abstract Modernism

 

 

Modernism played a large role in early 20^thcentury art.  One artist who used realism in their work was Morgan Russell.  In one of Morgan Russell’s work “Grandfather and influences”, Russell uses elements of modernism to portray art.  One element included in this piece is the use of fragmentary content.  The artist has no whole in her work, she uses shapes and pieces to form a painting.  Another element of modernism is how the artist presents puzzling features.  The artist does this to indicate that the mystery itself is the message.
